  12. Scion Genealogist is a specialised database for keeping track of
  13. genealogical information. It features a full, easy to use, Intuition
  14. interface. Scion v5 is a MAJOR upgrade to earlier versions.
  15.  
  16. The programme has been written in a totally secular manner, has no
  17. checking on sex (to allow for "unconventional" relationships), and has no
  18. name checking (to allow for adopted children).
  19.  
  20. The printed reports include descendant and pedigree charts, personal details
  21. reports, family group sheets, index lists of people and families, and many
  22. others. See the "Scion.guide" help file for details on the new reports.

  24. Free-form note files can be created and viewed, IFF-ILBM pictures can be
  25. viewed, and IFF-8SVX sound files can be played - all from within the
  26. programme.

  28. Other features include dynamic on-screen ancestor and descendant charts,
  29. extensive on-line context-sensitive help, powerful searching and filtering,
  30. and multiple ARexx ports with an extensive command set (see "ScionRexx.Guide"
  31. for further information).

  35. Can be used with PAL or NTSC and third-party graphics cards. Works with
  36. floppy and/or hard disk drives, although a hard disk drive is STRONGLY
  37. recommended.

  39. Database stored in RAM for maximum speed. Memory usage typically 50% less
  40. than earlier versions of Scion.

  42. Loads databases created with any earlier version of Scion or "ArJay
  43. Genealogist".

  52. A minimum of 1 Mbyte of RAM is required. 4 Mbytes of RAM is recommended.

  84.       plain text file" even for RTF/HTML/etc files. Fixed.

  110.     - 'Sex' of people in printed reports was not being localised. Fixed.
  111.     - With some non-English translations, the 'Ctrl' key modifier in the
  112.       Function Key requester could overlap the gadget. Fixed.
  113.     - A few OS 3.1+ Amigas would not recognize changes to the Workbench
  114.       printer preferences while Scion was running. Fixed.
  115.     - If the Scion screen was 'promoted' to have more than 8 colours,
  116.       the "Custom" palette requester would not appear. Fixed.
  117.     - Because the Turkish language uses a "non-standard" character set,
  118.       the "quick help" in the bottom line of the windows was displaying
  119.       incorrect characters when a Turkish locale was used. Fixed.
  120.     - With OS3+, the menus of "multi-selection" requesters would not
  121.       have displayed properly (never reported!). Fixed.
  122.     - Not a bug - I simply forgot! Last name 'pick lists' are now
  123.       saved with the database and restored on loading.
